Among the many breathtaking beaches along Korea’s East Coast, Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, stands out for its crystal-clear waters and refreshing atmosphere. If you are planning a trip to the sea during summer, this iconic destination is a must-visit, especially for fans seeking out the BTS Bus Stop Jumunjin Beach photo spot.

Visited right before the peak summer season, the beach was fully prepared to welcome vacationers. Neatly arranged colorful umbrellas lined the soft white sand, and well-maintained public amenities were completely ready for visitors.

Essential Visitor Information for Jumunjin Beach

At the northern edge of the shore sits the world-famous BTS Bus Stop, where the global K-pop group shot their album jacket photo. Set against the vibrant blue ocean, it offers travelers a unique opportunity to capture unforgettable summer memories in Gangneung.

Address: 210 Jumunbuk-ro, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do
Opening Period: July 10 – August 23
Beach Hours: 06:00 – 24:00
Swimming Hours: 09:00 – 18:00

Jumunjin Beach features shallow, gentle waters and a wide sandy shoreline, making it an ideal summer destination for families. Behind the sand, a lush pine forest provides shade for camping, while convenient amenities make spending a full day by the ocean comfortable.

Visiting right before the official summer vacation period meant the beach was open but still quiet and uncrowded. Along the path leading to the shore, food vendors were already set up to offer delicious seaside snacks.

During the official opening period, safety regulations are enforced. Water sports activities are prohibited within 20 meters outside the safety buoy line, and pets are restricted from entering the sandy beach area. Visitors are expected to follow basic rules, such as no smoking and no littering, to keep the beach pleasant for everyone.

Facilities and Rental Prices at the Beach

The beach offers convenience facilities including shower rooms, shade canopies, storage lockers, and designated camping grounds. Shower fees are set at 3,500 KRW (about $2.60) for adults and 2,500 KRW (about $1.85) for children.

Additional rental items like parasols, L-shaped tents, inner tubes, life jackets, wooden platforms, and campsite spots are available on-site at standard seasonal rates.

Just before peak season, the shoreline carried a calm, peaceful mood. Vibrant red and blue umbrellas stood in orderly lines across the expansive sand, yet very few tourists were around, creating a serene landscape.

The contrast between the quiet off-season vibe and the upcoming peak summer hustle was remarkable. Without any crowd congestion, resting near the waves felt like enjoying a private resort beach.

Charming photo points were installed along the beach, providing great backdrops against the blue sea and white sand. With just a couple of palm trees added, the scene could easily be mistaken for an exotic tropical resort.

A well-maintained wooden boardwalk runs along the upper part of the beach, perfect for a gentle stroll while taking in ocean views or listening to rolling waves. This coastal path leads directly toward the famous bus stop at the northern end.

Visiting the Iconic BTS Bus Stop Jumunjin Beach

Located approximately 270 meters north of the main beach section is Gangneung’s signature attraction: the famous BTS Bus Stop. Featured on the album jacket of ‘You Never Walk Alone,’ this set was originally temporary. After filming, it was taken down, but due to overwhelming interest from global fans and travelers, the city faithfully restored it in its original location.

Although long queues used to form here just for a single photo, the spot was surprisingly peaceful during this visit. Sitting on a bench nearby for about 30 minutes, only one other visitor stopped by to take pictures.

A smartphone selfie stand has also been installed in front of the bus stop. This allows solo travelers to set up their phones easily and take photos without asking anyone for help.

While it holds deep emotional value for BTS fans, even non-fans will find it a worthwhile stop due to its picturesque aesthetic against the backdrop of the Gangneung coast.

Jumunjin Beach excels as a summer getaway with good road access, free public parking spaces, and clean public facilities like showers and campsites.

Take a peaceful walk along the shoreline, take a seat at the blue bus stop at the edge of the beach, and snap a classic photo with the endless blue horizon behind you. It is a highly recommended Gangneung destination for a memorable coastal trip.
