The Garden of Morning Calm (아침고요수목원) is a beautiful horticultural arboretum nestled against the backdrop of Chungnyeongsan Mountain in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Designed by Professor Han Sang-kyeong from Sahmyook University, it opened in May 1996 as a peaceful retreat for nature lovers. Visitors heading to the Garden of Morning Calm can explore diverse plant species, forest paths, and scenic landscape designs throughout the year.
Highlights of the Garden of Morning Calm
The arboretum features twenty thematic gardens seamlessly interwoven with well-kept grassy expanses, flower displays, and nature trails. A dense pine nut grove and tranquil forest paths provide a relaxing setting for those looking to escape urban noise.

One of the main highlights is the Sunken Garden, which artfully represents the shape of the Korean Peninsula and its landscapes using blooming flowers. In total, the park houses over 5,000 plant species, including more than 300 varieties native to Baekdusan Mountain.
